The idea behind the tool
WHY WE BUILT ITA real problem. A useful little solution.
When you run a small business, your website is always on the clock. You shouldn’t have to be. PingHoot is our friendly lookout: checking that your site is available, showing the right content and keeping its certificates in order.
We wanted a straightforward way to look after the websites we build and depend on. Something that would tell us when attention was needed, without adding another complicated dashboard to the day. That’s the idea behind PingHoot.
A closer look
WHAT IT DOESRegular HTTP checks monitor availability and response times. Consecutive failures can confirm a problem before an alert is sent.
Check for words that should be on a page, and words that shouldn’t. A 200 response doesn’t always mean everything is working.
Certificate validity and expiry checks help you spot trouble before your visitors see a browser warning.
Email alerts, UK SMS and custom webhooks give you ways to hear about problems. Available options depend on your plan.
